Gratitude Journal
Last Wednesday night, at an young women's activity at the church that I attended with Sugar Plum, an older girl - no longer in the program - shared a few thoughts about the importance of the relationships that the girls have a chance to develop during the years they are together. She said that she didn't have a lot of girlfriends in high school, but that she now sees how valuable the interactions she had with the other young women at church. She said that girlfriends can fill needs in your life that no one else can.
Today, in the women's meeting at church, the lesson was about compassion. Several people commented about the power of sisterhood and how meaningful their relationships are with other women.
As I heard these thoughts, I couldn't help but think of my "book lunch girls" - a group of women with whom I've been meeting for almost two years to eat lunch, talk about a book we've read, and - most importantly - support one another. (Our book club blog is here.) Earlier this year, these girlfriends helped me get through some major frustrations in my life, and I hope that I'm a support to them as they deal with health, family, work, and other issues in their lives.
I am grateful for my BFFs.
